"Within the Calmlands there is said to be a river which flows from Serzahnk to the Hereafter which can grant eternal life.
But one sip of the pallid shallow water is said to contain enough vital essence to cure any ailment -- including death.
Yet, once drunk, the waters of the river instill a thirst which cannot be quenched but by the river's water.
As one partakes of more and more of the river's water, they begin to lose hold on the mortal world and can venture less and less from the mists.
Eventually, their soul is drawn fully into the mists and their mortal body dies.
Yet, bound by the mists of the river, their souls cannot leave their body and they become trapped between this world and the next.
They are Nosferatu -- the unclean spirits of those who refused to die.
They shall forever guard the dead but never be granted death themselves.
Such is the fate of those who refuse Voshim's embrace."
